The story of "individuality," "disability," and "environment."

There is a debate about whether developmental disabilities are "individuality" or "disability." Through my own feelings of childcare, I came to think that "the relationship between the child's individuality and the current environment can be both an individuality and an obstacle."

Of course, the term developmental disability includes a very wide range, so there are children and adults who need careful care as a "disability".

However, if the environment is suitable for the child, some children will not be bothered as a "disability". On the contrary, I think that even a child who cannot be said to be a "disability" can become a "disability" depending on the current environment.

This is a column series article in Ritalico Development Navi that summarizes my point of view.
